The latest from Mary Kay:

#Browns QB Jake Delhomme re-injured ankle and now has both high and low sprain, league source said.#nfl

#Browns quarterback Seneca Wallace described his ankle injury as a sprain. He limped in the locker room. Possibly dreaded high sprain.#nfl

fixed it for you.

no way do we toss Colt to, our biggest rivals, who are getting their own QB back, and with a piss-poor offensive line.

hell, you may as well start Cribbs over Colt.

Throwing in a guy straight from the golf course with only a week's worth of Daboll Coast offense is an even worse recipe for disaster than throwing Colt in. Is Chad Pennington still looking for work?

The New England Patriots have signed free-agent QB Brett Ratliff (Jaguars) to their practice squad, reports Rich Cimini, of ESPNNewYork.com.

Bo Ratliff from the New England. Makes too much sense.

Citing a league source, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Seneca Wallace has been diagnosed with a high right ankle sprain.

The Browns plan to put Wallace on an "aggressive rehabilitation program" to try to get him ready to start at Pittsburgh in Week 6, but that seems like quite a long shot. Wallace's strengths are his ability to move outside the pocket and create with his legs. He won't be able to with a high ankle sprain. The Plain Dealer suggests that the Browns might sign longtime Eric Mangini favorite Brett Ratliff off the Patriots' practice squad.

Ratliff signed with the Pats last week after the Moss trade. Given a Practice Squad player counts against the signing team's 53-man roster for 3 weeks I'm wondering if Ratliff can be plucked from the Pats even if the Browns wanted to.

Not exactly. Jackson cut Ratliff. New England signed him as a free agent to their practice squad. The 3 week rule applies to a player signed from a practice squad to your active roster. Not the case here.

Signing Practice Squad Players
•Under the current NFL Practice Squad Rules, any player who is under contract on a scout team is free to sign a player contract with any team in the league, without compensation to the franchise whose practice squad he is a member of. However, the signing must be completed at least six days before the signing team's next game (10 days in the case of a bye week).

Need to sign him today though....6 day rule??

We aren't starting McCoy. We can't be starting McCoy.

It has to be crazy ass Mangini tomfoolery. Cause starting McCoy next week will be the biggest train wreck in Cleveland QB history. And I say that having watched the last year and half.

Holy God, we can't be starting McCoy. We just can't be that stupid. Not possible.

I have a feeling McCoy's going to end up feeling like one of Rapistburger's dates by the end of this one Sunday. My advice to Colt would be to just accept it, close his eyes, and hope it ends quickly.

It'll be fine. Especially if Wolfley can't play and if it's McCoy and Jerome Harrison back there together.

Add in the Clayton/Duper-like duo of Mo Mass and Robo and the Browns are packing more weapons than Shaun Rogers on a trans-atlantic flight.

Things are looking up.

Who's Buffalo playing?

I fully know what to expect this sunday.

McCoy can't pass longer than 5 yards..our recievers suck...jesus this is bad..Actually I wouldn't be shocked if he gets knocked out of the game this sunday annnnd..Ratliff is in by the 4th quarter.

Anyone else thinking that James "SSS refuses to acknownledge the fact that he attended kent state" Harrison is foaming at the mouth going up against an injured Joe Thomas and a Rookie THIRD ROUND QB?

I don't know what everyone's bitching about.

Colt's debut is the only damn reason to watch this game. If we have to watch the Browns get ass-raped, at least it'll be with a developmental eye.

Over/Under on Wildcat plays next week? 15?

at the very least "the outsider" will be very good (as always) this week.

but..just trying to figure out what scenario where this works out...nope..can't think..of one..

other than every starter on the Steeler defense all contacting food poisoining at the exact same time.

quite fitting that therapist comes backs to a crime quite similiar to what went down earlier this year in midgeville GA.

I don't wanna see it.

You watched the kid a few weeks back muddle his way through 4th team defenses and guys who are now butchers and brokers.

The kid ain't ready by any stretch. If you're going to throw a sacrificial goat out there and take a beating then let Ratliff take it in the ear hole.

Stick to the plan and let that dude watch all year. And if it means you have a shot at Luck but no idea what McCoy can do, who gives a shit...take Luck. Neither River nor Brees suffered from being together.

Of course it won't work out. No one expects it to.

But with Wallace so obviously out, and having already seen what a gimpy Delhomme brings to the table, I had planned not to even view the debacle.

It may be that Colt is just as bad as gimpy Delhomme. He could be worse. But at least I haven't seen it before.

Gimpy Delhomme is not the future.

Colt McCoy? Probably not. But there is that chance.

You know what I keep thinking of? Has anyone here ever seen Irreversible?

It could either be the scene with Monica Belluci in the tunnel, or the scene with the fire extinguisher. I can't decide which. But, the result is pretty much the same either way.

Here's my only question: Would you rather have gimpy, sitting duck, 2nd Half vs Atlanta Delhomme out there?

Part of me says sure, because then I don't have to watch the game. I can write the article on Saturday and relax with NFL Ticket on Sunday afternoon, watching other teams that aren't trotting out a QB that would probably get shanked vs. PIT even if totally healthy. But some sadistic part of me wants to have a reason to watch this game.

Worst case scenario: Colt goes out, gets sacked 17 times, fumbles 4 times, and gets his arm literally ripped from his body.

Well, then at least we know what we'll be drafting at the top of the 1st Round.

Kinda like Ralph Malph writing into "You wanted to see it" asking them to televise a human sacrifice. He got Fonzie breaking a leg, we get the possibility of a Stiller defender ripping off an appendage, then beating several Browns players with it.

Cribbs is playing thru a bad ankle , something so bad probably neither of us could walk on let alone ball on.

Those ankles can make it tough. Imagine having two sprains of the same ankle. Could almost make ya look like you quit on the field. ;-) ;)

If y'all aren't reading Dave Kolonich's stuff here you really should be. Objective, amusing, entertaining. His thoughts from his TCF front page article:

As dangerous as this new fiction may appear to be, perhaps even worst is the way the discussion is being framed. What happened to the most basic types of questions possible?

Something like this:

Do you want to build your offense around Colt McCoy?

And not this:

Is Colt McCoy a better pick in the 3rd Round, than he is the 2nd or 1st?

Or even better:

Is Colt McCoy a better QB because he was drafted in a lower round?

Of course, McCoy actually playing renders this discussion completely meaningless. What a shame for us who only had one purpose for McCoy during his season of inactivity - which was to serve as a means for speculation.

Now, we actually have to watch him play.

Which in the short term is horrific news…for a variety of reasons.

at this point, it's either going one of two ways.

either, McCoy somehow puts together..a decent performance as a QB ( and we give him a further look this season, and this at the very least allows us to maybe, maybe, focus on drafting a wide-receiver in the first or pass rusher?).

Or we for sure know that he's not the guy or will never be the guy.

And I'm not saying he has to play.."well" per say, but moreso to survive and to look on par with at the very least Brady Quinn. I agree with Hiko on this, if he at or above 50% on his passes and his interceptions are 3 or below, I will be quite satisfied with such a performance.

Really, either way, I'd still draft a QB next year, to me he's NFL backup at best, and a CFL starter within 2 years.

No need to hmmmmmmm...... me. ;-) ;) I was simply wrong. I didn't want to see him in there. It's a bad way to go 98% of the time.

But the situation simply isn't too big for the kid.

I am not pronouncing McCoy as the end all/be all to the position, but that's a kid that just looks like he gets it.

And I went and watched him in pre season and training camp and he showed NONE of the arm strength or aptitude. Bottom line is he's smart, learns fast and is more physically capable than we thought.

My heart is pumping again for this team.

They're relevant once more.

Just like you are about Delhomme, so fess up and come correct in a consistent manner.

Jake Delhomme was ready to retire. All you hav eto do is watch his play last season and his presser when they cut the old vet and sent him in for alpo 7 glue. But like dumb asses in their only inexplicably moronic move out of many very good ones Heckgren made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Hell, Bobby Lane would crawl out the dirt and get a liver transplant for $ 7 mil a season. So even though he showed no desire to play, he took them up on the $ 7 million reasons.

And damn near as I've ever seen in the ultimate team sport that is pro football single handedly cost this team the 2 games that would make it a legit playoff contender this season.

No Jake = playoff run.

2 + months out with an ankle sprain = quit

No worries though Peeker. I judge you on the overall body of your work, to coin a phrase.
