Call Your Shot: Who will the Browns select at #3?

Unread postby swerb » Thu Apr 12, 2007 2:30 pm

Figured it's about time to get the official prediction thread going.

Stand pat? Trade down? Who's gong #1 and #2 ... and then who will the Browns take at #3?

Calvin Johnson #1 to Oakland
Detroit trades and Russell goes 2
We take Brady at 3.

We miss out on another franchise back in AP and also miss out on solidifying the OL

1. Oakland- JaMarcus
2. Detroit (trade with Tampa or Atlanta): Calvin Johnson
3. Cleveland- Brady Quinn

And, if it ain't Quinn, I believe it will be A Pete. It's going to be one of those two, but right now I think Quinn is the guy targetted (after JaMarcus). Should be one hell of an interesting debate at Panini's when we are on the clock....sort of a "Tastes Great! Less Filling" shout-fest between those for A Pete and Quinn. Pup will be the lone guy in the background pimping Thomas.

I think whoever expects Brady Quinn to be the pick is gonna be disapointed. Russel maybe, cuzz he can scramble and is big enough to pull it down and run.

Johnson to Oakland
Gaines Adams to Detroit
Russell to Cleveland

no trades until the middle of round 1.....maybe Washington trades...but it will be quieter than predicted.

Al Davis is running Oakland ,

He's allready compared Russell to John Ellway

If he hits the crack pipe he takes Calvin Johnson

Detroit takes Quinn and we end up with Russell.

If he doesn't hit the pipe .

Russells a Raiduh

The lions take the Atlanta trade for Johnson and then draft Stanton ,

and we take the mighty Quinn .

He of the 2-8 record against any kinda real competition more than a stiff breeze.

Send your pipes and extra rocks in care of Al along with your prayers.

I'm going to go a little different:

1. Cleveland Browns - JaMarcus Russell

2. Tampa Bay - Calvin Johnson

3. Oakland - Brady Quinn

4. Detroit - Gains Adams

5. Arizona - Joe Thomas

Don't ask me what Cleveland had to do to get to the #1 pick since it'll probably depress all of us.

Browns draft

Knowing the Brownies and their total inability to do the right thing I will say they are going to take Brady Quinn.

I think Joe Thomas is our answer because without the offensive line, the QB is a zero, and Joe Thomas will help out with that o-line which should make Frye a bit better. If however we pick a QB it is JaMarcus Russell because he can scramble and avoid pressure better. Brady however is more of a pocket passer and relies a lot on that offensive line. I dont care if we had a QB as good as Steve Young, without that offensive line, QB is useless.

Browns follow Swerb's rumor & trade down & get L. Brown.........or trade down even farther to around 12-14 & pick Branch first. If we get Branch next pick is Kali then corner.

They're going to trade down. I like Rich's Miami scenario, but there are other potential trade partners.

Oakland will take Johnson.
Detroit will take Thomas.

I having a last minute epiphany.... I was reading the 451 page 2000 Mike Martz St Lous Rams playbook and I thought to myself Quinn already knows this stuff. Quinn speaks NFL offense. Russell will have to learn it, if he can. Lord knows Tim Couch couldn't. Old Charlie can't.

Brady Quinn can call protections, think about what his Z reciever is doing, audible out to a good play, run the show from day 1. That already puts him ahead of Frye and Anderson.

Let's just say I won't be pissed if we take him anymore.

Russell, Quinn, Okoye, Thomas...in that order.

I believe the Browns will trade down. Either 1-2 slots for Joe Thomas or down to 7-9 and take Levi Brown.

I'm going to call a trade down as well. If Savage is as smart as Shapiro, and looks at Moneyball-type analysis, he'll take an extra 2nd and 3rd to trade down, but I'm saying possibly as far as 20. I'm not saying that's exactly the trade that will happen, but considering the Massey draft analysis I read which is sweeping through the internet, I think Phil will realize that trading down as far as possible and stockpiling 2nd and 3rd round draft picks, both this year and next, is preferable to blowing our wad on someone we either do not need or isn't worthy of being selected with the 3rd pick. Best case is Calvin Johnson on the board at the 3rd spot, and Jimmy Johnson's draft value chart be damned, trade down and get some extra picks. Free agency hasn't done enough to make this team a competitor, so the draft this year is key.

Now I am down with that. Trading down to take Thomas or Levi. And, then likely using the 2nd and other mid round picks we pick up for CB and more OL help.

Just want to know who is going to actually be pissed off when they in fact take Joe Thomas?

Is it going to be 6 months of hating if they do?
