I fully understand that I could be dead wrong in the end, but I have been on record here for a LONG time saying that Taylor mays was just another Roy Williams at best.

It's worth noting that people were at one time excited about Williams as an NFL player, so I'll be holding my final judgment on his NFL trajectory for several years, even if he starts with a bang.

Also worth noting was that this "special" talent was passed up by the coach who knew the most about him. And he was passed on for a safety. That is at a minimum worth more than a couple passing comments by Woodson.

Former players make statements about new ones all the time, and they are by and large incorrect. That's why they are not employed as draft consultants.

The notion that former players are inherently good at instantly judging the NFL trajectory of all new players of the same position is dubious at best.

Second, hindsight is 20/20, isn't it? There were 48 chances for teams to pick him...did any teams not have a pick in the top 48? I don't remember, but it's probably that every team passed on him at least once.

As for the "talent out of this world" thing--maybe because sometimes freak of nature athletes don't pan out well if they aren't great football players. I want football players, not just a dude who looks good in gym shorts. He has bad instincts, takes bad routes to the ball etc. etc.

Viekune threw up 35 reps at the combine , he has exceptional strength.

Dwayne Rudd had sub 4.5 speed which is exceptional.

Thompson is like the Ward pick , Butch panicked and picked him two rounds sooner than he
should have gone.

Chaun Thompson had 4.5 speed which is very good at around 245 lbs which is ideal
for a 43 backer butt small for a 34 .

He neither excelled in pass coverage or tackling except by accident
but mostly performed like a puppy running too fast on a linoleum floor taking himself out of plays , he was so stoopid i saw him tackle rottenburgers lineman in the pocket instead of the rapist and I have to say it was the dumbest play I ever saw in all my fuckin life.

Ward at least a player who performed on the high profile circuit, Thompson came off an 0-11 team and nobody butt Chauns mammy and Dave Campo thought he was a player .

They tried to duplicate the success ""Jimmay"" had picking guys like Haley and Leon Lett and Norton and others , but they weren't even close with that tool.

Another is not picking Clay II. And even that's kinda "eh" to me, because Alex Mack has turned into a quality center.

other than that, it's kinda moot. either a guy works out or he doesn't. sometimes you can see it from a mile away, other times you can be completely shocked.
