Why no love for Mulitaldo?

Unread postby jb » Sun Mar 11, 2007 10:16 am

He's one of Phil's boys, he's out there, and we need a RG badly, if not vet depth.

Anyone have an insight on anything they've read?

There had been speculation since the season ended that Mulitalo would be cut because the Ravens were impressed with his replacement (Jason Brown) and also needed the salary cap room.

From PFW's 06 preseason mag:

didn't play as well in '05 as he did in past seasons and struggled at times. The Ravens want him to improve his conditioning, which was a problem last year.

And then he was IRed after 4 games in 06 with a triceps injury.

Seems to be in decline, but he'd be better than nothing, I suppose.

The classic case of an offensive guard who just got too fat, lost the whole muscle mass to body fat ratio in the wrong direction. Which leads to injuries like triceps.

Still, he was pretty damn good for the Rats for a couple of seasons. Real good. I remember we looked hard at him the year he hit FA.

With a guy like this ... it's all about how bad he wants it IMO.

If the guy is dedicated to getting in shape, living in the weight room, and returning to past form ... he's worth a look. Clearly someone will sign him. Gandy as a OG intrigues me more, but hes a fallback.

Thanks, those are good reasons. I didn't realize he'd regressed to being Cosey Coleman.

I don't understand why there's no love for Mike Doss. The guy wants to sign here. Does he really suck so bad that he can't back up Jones and Pool?

He just tore his ACL in the playoffs
I am his biggest fan no doubt, but he would have to come dirt cheap and then proove himself.

rawdawg, Doss just never had the speed to play NFL DB. Hes started for a year or so on and off but couldn't hold off better players.

Mike Doss cannot pass defend at this level (chiefly due to the speed issue referred to above) Lord knows the Browns have had enough guys that fall into this category since they've been back.
