SALARY-CAP ADJUSTMENTS

Finally, the salary-cap adjustments have been made and teams know how much space they have. The salary cap was set at $109 million per team but adjustments for each team had to be made for incentives earned and not earned.

If a team had been charged in the 2006 salary cap for a likely-to-be-earned incentive and the player never earned that incentive, then the club gets the salary-cap space back in 2007. With that in mind, the teams with the most adjusted space are Minnesota ($118 million), Kansas City ($117.5 million), Jacksonville ($117.5 million), New Orleans ($115.5 million), and Cleveland ($115.4 million).

On the other side of the coin, teams that had not-likely-to-be-earned incentives that didn't count against the 2006 cap but were earned by players during the 2006 season adjusts the 2007 cap down from $109 million. Teams seeing their cap space shrink include Tennessee ($105.4 million), the Jets ($105.8 million), Miami ($106.3 million), Pittsburgh ($106.3 million), and San Diego ($106.4 million).

It's not a bad thing, especially if a player produced more than expected. However, it does take upward of $4 million of the 2007 space away from a team's effort to compete this season.

Hooray - we got money back caused players under achieved.

Seems to me that that $6.4M should be given back to the fans!

And no one to spend it on :-| :| It's hard to stay positive about this team after this offseason so far. Let's list some fun facts about the Browns

QB- undecided, They are apparently looking for one

RB- 1yr Stop-gap runner

WR- best one has a bum knee

TE- Even more of a bum-knee,doesnt block well.most likely has shortened his career

Oline- still very suspect even with the addition of Steinbach

D-line- hoping to have one

DB's- actually not all that bad considering the pass rush is key for them in a 3-4 and outside of Wimbley they rarely had one.

They need to explore trades and PS HAS to have a slam-dunk draft..............something he hasnt done yet.

Well, if you thought they were going to do something to shore up all of those fronts in the first week of FA, you might have set your sights a little high.

There wasn't players out there to fix everything. A lot of these things will be addressed in April, then some more after people are cut post draft.

Relax.

Not saying that at all Pup, just stating the realistic problems of the team. It's alarming to how many holes they need to fill, I guess I cant really complain about who they draft though.

I know. I wanted them to come out and answer a couple of positions, but the talent wasn't really there. There are a lot of holes, that is for sure!

Clements would have made me feel ALOT better, but I dont blame them for giving him that kind of money. Drafting Quinn wont help all that much if he doesnt play in yr 1, this team needs starters IMO.
