Houston and Atlanta want the #3 pick

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Houston wants to trade up to the No. 3 pick for a chance to select Oklahoma tailback Adrian Peterson.

The Texans would reportedly be willing to send David Carr and their first-rounder (No. 8 overall) to Cleveland in exchange for the No. 3 pick.

Obviously, they will need to add a lot more to that package to get the Browns to budge.

No doubt.

That rumor is freaking hillarious.

How about their # 1, Carr, their number 2 this year and number 3 next year.....

Rather than start a new thread, I just edited the title.

Anyway, this Atlanta package is much nicer:

Inside the top 10, the stakes get much higher. If Oakland goes with LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell and Detroit follows with Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas, then Cleveland would be the target. The Browns would likely want quarterback Matt Schaub, the 10th pick and at least next season's first rounder. They might even ask for Freddie Falcon and couple of cheerleaders, too.

The funny thing about the Houston rumor is they want the #3 spot to get AP.

But if we trade down to the 8 spot, I'm thinking he best target there would be Quinn, but he wouldn't be needed if we got Carr.

Someone said it earlier, if we want Carr and Texans want rid of him, let's trade a 4th rounder for him. It should have NOTHING to do with the 3 & 8 spots.

With Steinbach in tow, Im more leery to deal down ... UNLESS you can get at least #8, #39, and Carr.

Carr helps soldify QB. Steinbach, Im assuming, helps solidify OT.

And you could go ...

#8 Alan Branch/Abomi Okoye
#36 Ben Grubbs
#39 Tony Hunt/Michael Bush

With picks still at the top of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Every FA signing changes the overall picture. Right now, APete looks a little better to me.

Looks like the Jets are trying to move up to #2 and get A Pete. Per John Clayton on the NFL Radio Show on Sirius, the Jets and Lions are in trade talks about sending Vilma, #25, and their late 2nd for #2 overall.

awe ite - then we sit tight and go Joe Thomas , RB 2nd and OG / DL 3rd....

Or we could still sign a RB to help Dones and go Thomas , CB and linemen on both sides up the ass.

Love our position no matter what happens.

BTW - how about swopping # 1, taking their number 2, and getting Mangold ?

"There are going to be some new parts to the puzzle," Marshall said Saturday. "We're still in the process of putting the pieces together. And the draft is part of that.

Right now I don't see how we can go wrong with A Peter, Thomas or Quinn. All huge needs if you ask me.

If A Pete is gone and CJ is still there, I say take Calvin and prepare to deal down. Someone is gonna give us the bank for him!

I agree that you consider drafting CJ with the notion someone will pay out the ass to trade for him.

But we simply cannot draft him and keep him. You just can't have two mega contracts at WR in this day and age of the salary cap.

Houston is turning into a disaster for a franchise. I mean seriously, they could have had either Reggie Bush or Vince Young but they choose to have David Carr and Ahman Green. Christ, this is almost comical.

A 4 year deal ?? So does this take them out of the running for Petersen ?

We might be able to trade down with them and still nab AP. Use two picks in the 2nd rd for a guard and possibly Staley.

Well, I guess I'll pay my bill for tickets after this weekend.
