N8 Clements

Multiple sources across many sites as well as word on the street from peeps in Shaker suggest N8 Clements will be the first signing.

I like it. He'll sure nuff cost, but if we get any health luck at all, at least we have one area on the team - the DB's - that won't suck.

Then time to double back on line help on both sides the ball I suppose.

It'll be interesting to see how many big $ line FA's Phil will go after, or if he'll wait for the market to settle.

I love the idea of adding Clements. Our secondary would be respectable, and could possibly even be good enough to allow us to throw a blitz or two at the opposing offense. Do we ever send more than 4?

i don't see them waiting for anything to settle. The quicker they strike on their top 3 targets (Clements, Deilmen (sp?) and Steinbech), the better chance they have at signing them.

Clements would be a solid pickup, I just dont want to overpay the guy like they did with Baxter. I've read they are kinda luke-warm on him and may let him go out and establish a market for himself then decide if they want to enter the bidding.

Yeah I dont want that either, but I think the only other team interested in Clements is the 49er's. And they are believed to nab AT right away. I do agree that getting him would make our DB's our best unit and that would even help with the pass rush to an extent as well. But Bodden needs to show us he isnt the Larry Hughes of the Browns as well.

With the way our franchises re being run right now, I don't know. I think Phil figures he has at least 2 more drafts to finish this off. This year will be blamed on RAC if they stink. That will buy him another draft with a new head coach. Then if there is no improvement, he will blame it on the QB situation.

Unless Randy hires a president, who is around to know enough to fire Phil?

As long as he can stay on the field, Bodden is a #1 CB in my view. I've been thoroughly impressed with this kid.

And Holly ... I also really liked what I saw from him last year.

The fact remains though, Bodden was unable to stay healthy last season. And Holly, as good as I felt he was the majority of the time, he was a 7th rd pick cut by two teams before landing here and playing well for half a season.

The Browns clearly need to address CB.

I've heard some concerning things on Clements. About his play the last two seasons from fans on a Bills board, and also something from one of the national guys that questioned how hard hed play and how effective hed be after he gets paid, a day hes been talking about for years. They mentioned that he was a prime candidate to bust as a FA.

Still, with 33 mill in cap space and the aforementioned CB issues, its hard to be upset about this.

If healhy, Clements and Bodden have the potential to be a top pair of CBs, the best dup here since Top Dawg & Mighty Minni.
