seeking Atlanta's interest in Calvin...

Unread postby yogi » Mon Feb 26, 2007 8:12 am

went to a Falcon's site and inquired of interest in Calvin. Some replies are interesting. They seem very willing to give up Shaub.

Don't know how much our brass likes Shaub though, and what else it'll take from them (2nd round, maybe 1 or 2nd round in 08) to get it done.

Another scenario where we take Calvin and see where the draft goes....

The one guy brings up a good point about him being a no brainer to TB at #4, who is a division rival.

If you're the Falcons, if you move up, not only do you get your guy, but you avoid having to face him twice a year for the next decade.

Atl. isnt coming off Shaub regardless of what fans want. Lets not turn this into a realgm trade.

Agreed Ponn
I don't think their front office is looking on message boards for ideas

I guarantee the Falcons are looking at moving up to that spot though. They may not come off Schaub, but it's by no means crazy talk.

Geez, didn't realize you guys had the "ins" with the Atlanta FO.

I stupidly thought the the Falcon fans may know more than Browns fans about the state of their ballclub.

Next time I'll just ask you guys!

Yogi, didnt mean to come off like that, apologizes

From what I've read the new regime if you will is basicly thowing Vick a noose this year. Letting him call plays ect. Shaub is highly valued by their FO and look for him to start by mid-season if not, next year. Vick will be to much of a cap hit this year to trade.

Doz, no problem. Sometimes posts don't transcribe well.

I'm just excited that Phil should have enough interest in CJ that he can still get AP or BQ by moving down slightly. And we get a small earth mover (read OG) for all the trouble!

That is something Atlanta has failed to do, give Vick a big-play reciever. Now Im of the belief you could put 3 pro-bowlers and Vick still wouldnt have success. But for some reason Vick is beloved by many down there, so they pretty much have to show the ATL faithful he sucks before he's gone. I can see us trading with Atlanta, but I dont see them giving up Shaub. That being said, I hope to god the Browns dont drop down and take Lady Quinn.

Dozen is correct. Why provide Vick a receiver that he'll fail to see anyway. As a matter of fact, there is a good chance that the Falcons receiver's stock will go up once Vick is gone. Put Michael Jenkins on a team where the quarterback can A. See the Field and B. Throw an accurate pass, and you might have yourself a player.
