The Cleveland Browns announced today that the team has traded tight end Kellen Winslow to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undisclosed draft picks.

“The Cleveland Browns thank Kellen for his contributions to this organization over the past five years,” said Browns General Manager George Kokinis. “We appreciate his passion for the game and wish him success in Tampa Bay. The draft picks we have obtained through this deal will give us greater flexibility as we look to infuse more talent and create competition and depth on this football team.”

The Browns selected Winslow with the sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. In his five years in Cleveland, he played in 44 games, recording 219 receptions for 2,459 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2006, he caught 89 passes for 875 yards and 3 touchdowns, and in 2007 he went to the Pro Bowl after catching 82 passes for 1,106 yards and 5 touchdowns. He played in 10 games in 2008, catching 43 passes for 428 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Come on you dont remember the plan, Winslow and Rucker to spread the field. Best recieving TE in the league. So what if he had a big head, he's the only one that deserved it. The guy was a warrior.

Winslow is barely a TE, and he and Shockey are actually very comparable.

It's not about numbers with winslow, its about lineing up outside the tackle and making a safety stay inside for the fear that if a ball is anywhere close to him hes going to catch it.

You're right there hasnt been a TE traded for a number 1, but value wise if we take a 2nd and 5th that is worse than what the Giants got because I believe the Saints had the 9th pick last year and TB has the 19th... if it is a 2nd and 4th Im ok. I honestly think Winslow is worth more than Shockey.

He is a Top 5 TE because he, his daddy and his agent say so ?

No he is an elite (I say top 5) because of his performance in 2006 where he lead the league in receptions by TE's and in 2007 when he had a top 3 year. Just because he got staph last year from the Browns effed up facility and had to deal with 2 Qb's and our offensive clusterflip doesnt take away from that fact that he is still elite. At least for a few more years.
