Preview: Pacquiao vs. Clottey

News image

2010 has been a very slow year so far for the sport of boxing. All of that is about to change in the next few months. What better way to kick off a few solid months of fights with the boxer who is considered the best in the business. Manny Pacquiao takes on Joshua Clottey in a battle at 147 pounds. It will be a huge event seeing it is the first ever fight inside the new spectacle that is Dallas ... Read more

The Crystal Ball - March 12 Releases

News image

Quite an Oscar Night for “The Hurt Locker”, as the little movie that could shocked the world by becoming the lowest (relative) grossing movie ever to win Best Picture, with Kathryn Bigelow becoming the first woman ever to win Best Director. My predictions were spot on for the acting and directing awards, but the anticipated split vote between “The Hurt Locker” and “Avatar” that would have allowed “Inglourious Basterds” to sneak in didn’t happen.  I also missed on both writing awards ... Buckeye Fans, Prepare Thyself: Big Ten Tournament Preview

News image

The Big Ten men's basketball tournament tipped off yesterday in Indianapolis with Iowa facing off against Michigan. The two teams were fighting for a second round birth to challenge our beloved and top seeded Buckeyes. With the way the game started, it looked like Michigan was going to blow the Hawkeyes out. Iowa was able to get things close in the second half, but in the end, Manny Harris and the Wolverines pulled away for a 59-52 victory. With that, we're going to jump right into the Conference Tournament preview. First opponent -- ... Read more

Six-to-Seven Year Itch

News image

Now embarking on the first full season since the latest rebuild/reload/whatever began in earnest last July, the comparison as to where the current Indians team finds themselves on the path that (hopefully) leads back to contention is both inevitable and painful, particularly considering that the previous tear down/build up happened so recently and ended with unfulfilled expectations. Nevertheless, the Indians find themselves rebuilding again, attempting to find that mix of players that will mature at the same time, with injuries an... Read more

Winter Haven Carries On Without Indians

News image

The Indians are now well into their second year of operations in their new state of the art Player Development Complex located in Goodyear, Arizona. But while they are enjoying the comforts of their new digs in Arizona these days, how are things these days at the facility and city they once called home in Winter Haven, FL during the ... 24 Recap: 2 AM - 3 AM

News image

There was no best man at Jack Bauer’s wedding, Jack Bauer is always the best man. I will readily admit that I have been exceptionally hard on “24” this season.  We’ve always known that it was a guilty pleasure with continued leaps of logic, boring subplot, dislikable characters, and oft-repeated components, but we still loved it due to the often inventive ... A Bitter Goodbye

News image

Talk about a noisy withdrawal.   Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson was sent packing by the team on Tuesday and he let the door hit him in the ass on the way out.  In an email to the Lake County News-Herald, Anderson unloaded a few years worth of frustration by dumping not on the team that won’t be paying him nearly ... Blast From the Past: Gerry Cheevers

News image

It’s one of the rich images of baseball: a ten-year-old, listening to games on a transistor radio, during times when he should not be doing so. For example, during the school day, or in bed after lights-out. I was that youngster, back in the day. Only, during winter, I was just as likely to be hiding the radio under the ... Read more

Free Agency During a normal Free Agency period, we all get very excited, looking hungrily down the list like we're perusing menus for dim sum or sushi or tapas - "Ooooooo!  I want one of those!  And two of those!  And - oh! - six of those!" However, this year's FA menu is a pitiful thing to behold.  There's a head of ... Read more

It’s early March on the NFL calendar which can only mean one thing: the world’s costliest flea market is open for business, limited time only.  Every year beginning in late February, just after the NFL combine closes and general managers and coaches have had their fill of poking, prodding and testing the new meat, each NFL team heads to the fair ... Quite a bit of star power was missing from Monday Night’s game between the visiting San Antonio Spurs and Your Cleveland Cavaliers- the majority of them on the Cleveland side.
